Australia’s Classiest Piece of Bacon - Miss Maple Rose

is coming to Brisbane, and she's offering for the first time... WORKSHOPS!

Maple is the current 1st Runner Up Miss Burlesque Australia (2018) and the reigning Miss Burlesque Melbourne (2018).

Miss Maple Rose, the self-pronounced ambassador for the True North, burst onto Sydney's ever-growing burlesque scene in 2011. Since she has worked tirelessly at reviving the glory of old Hollywood glamour while also keeping the tradition of parody in the style of burlesque. This bright eyed, autumn haired siren began her performing career as a ballerina, and combines her professional expertise in costume and set design with her foundation in dance to create cheeky routines that are entirely original. From Canada to Australia to Sweden and back, she’s graced the seediest of stages across 4 continents. She loves long walks on the banks of Lake Ontario, drinking smooth whiskey next to a roaring fire, and her favourite food is one of the juiciest. Of course, she’s the one and only, classiest piece of bacon!

Maple Rose is a household name in the Australian burlesque scene and has recently moved back from the Scandinavian Capital, Stockholm, where she joined the in-house cast at Stockholm's local speakeasy, Melt Bar & Restaurant. Back in Australia, Maple co-founded Highway Robbery Productions which produces the After Hours Cabaret Club. Now Maple focuses on expanding the local burlesque community by producing a small intimate burlesque night bimonthly at The Woodlands Hotel in Coburg. You can learn from Maple in her Sewing 101 class at Maison Burlesque, and catch her at regular events produced by the school.

Maple's alter ego is the one and only large, inflatable, feather fan wielding Tease-Rex!

Ruffle Those Feathers - 1.5 hour Fan Dancing Workshop at $45 per head - 6.30pm-8.00pm

As Sally Rand famously said, “The fan idea is as old as Cleopatra.” Making it your own and unique can be a challenge, though it’s one worth thinking about if you fall in love with fan dancing.

Here’s your chance to learn a few tips and tricks from the tornado herself, Maple Rose! From her large waterfall tribute fans down to her pocket sized iconic pink and blue plumes with tiny dinosaur arms, Maple has been gracing the stages across the world showcasing her unique lyrical style of fan dancing. In this 1.5 hour workshop we’ll be refining grip switches, wrist action, precision and build arm strength to improve your technique and hone in on your own personal style.

Open to all levels, although fan dancing experience will come in handy

Please wear comfy, form-fitting clothing that does not restrict your movement. Heeled dance shoes are optional. Bring your personal feather fans.

Charleston 101 - 1 hour workshop at $30 per head - 8.00pm-9.00pm

The Roaring Twenties were the bee’s knees, when flappers glugged down giggle water, and Jazz clubs were the cat’s pyjamas.

In this comprehensive and physical workshop, we’ll break down the key dance styles of the era with a step by step guide to un-boggle your mind and rid you of two left feet.

Bring your dancing shoes, however flat shoes are encouraged. We’ll be bouncing around, so wear comfortable clothing with freedom of movement.
