Join Hummingbird Theatre Company and critically acclaimed international voice and performance coach Laura Field for a practical, interactive workshop exploring the connection between voice, body and performance.
Designed for actors at different stages of their development, Actor Presence & Vocal Technique provides practical techniques and repeatable exercises to help participants develop greater vocal confidence, freedom, presence and expressive ability.
Breath & Focus
Explore techniques for moving from internal sound towards developed vocal release, supporting greater vocal awareness, focus and control.
Physical Ease & Balance
Explore how physical tension can affect breath, resonance and vocal freedom, while working towards greater physical and vocal flexibility.
Presence, Projection & Expression
Explore resonance, articulation and projection, alongside the relationship between physical groundedness, vocal expression and actor presence.
The workshop is delivered live via Zoom and includes practical exercises, demonstrations and discussion.
With a maximum of just 12 participants, the small-group format allows for meaningful participation and opportunities for individual feedback.
The exercises are designed to be straightforward and repeatable, giving participants techniques they can continue exploring independently in rehearsal, audition and performance.

Participants are welcome to bring a short piece of text they are currently working on, such as a monologue, audition piece or script extract. This is optional, but provides an opportunity to consider the workshop techniques in relation to your own performance material.
