From Darkness into Light

A combined gala event by Christ Church Cathedral Choir, University Choir and Waratah Girls Choir, this concert will feature choral works exploring the theme "From Darkness to Light" and will include the song cycle "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" based on poetry written by children imprisoned at Terezin Concentration Camp, established by the SS during World War II in the Czech Republic, sung by the Waratah Girls Choir.

The concert will also feature works sung by the combined choirs including John Taverner's Song for Athene (made famous at the funeral of Princess Diana) and Parry's evergreen classic "I was glad" (heard more recently at the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).
