Fashions of Multicultural Australia (FOMA), proudly supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is a first-ever national initiative that integrates cultures, generates trade opportunities, and fosters social cohesion through the universally binding industry that is fashion. In conjunction with various Foreign Embassy partners, FOMA navigates the origins of Australian fashion and depicts how migration has historically affected it. In 2020, we are proud to announce that FOMA will be hosted at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Sydney. 

Following it's breakout debut in 2019, FOMA will return with a spectacular multicultural runway showcase, bringing to audiences a colourful whirlwind of coutures, designs, stories, and perspectives originating from emerging designers based in Australia and across the globe. There will also be two FOMA Designer Awards associated with the Runway Showcase that will wrap up the evening.

In addition to the Runway Showcase, FOMA will also present a myriad of hands-on cultural engagement opportunities through our Designer and Cultural Exhibit. Operated by our Foreign Embassy Partners, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the many cultures and historical narratives that define Australia today. Entry to the Designer and Cultural Exhibit is free upon presentation of your Runway Ticket.

Your ticket also includes entry into the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, an internationally renowned centre of excellence and innovation with a 500,000 piece collection spanning across the fields of history, science, technology, design, industry, decorative arts, music, transport and space exploration.
