SONIC FUTURES feat. JOSHUA MEADER
At just 22 years of age and in his final year at the Sydney Conservatorium, guitarist Joshua Meader is gaining recognition for his work as a soloist with national big bands such as the SCM Jazz Orchestra, recently featuring on the inaugural Trans-Tasman Youth Orchestra recording directed by Dave Theak and Dave Lisik (NZ).
His music draws on range of styles including be-bop, hip-hop, groove-based/funk, contemporary jazz and popular music. His original compositions which are infused with odd-time signature grooves, improvisation and textural explorations and will be brought to life tonight by his Sonic Future’s collaborators selected by Joshua.
This event is supported by APRA/AMCOS
Josh Meader-Guitar, Steve Barry- Piano, Jonathan Zwartz- Bass, Alex Hirlian-Drums
Long-time collaborators Fabro/Botting/Flower have joined forces with this new artistic endeavour. Drawing on jazz, blues, soul, pop and Americana, the trio create breath-taking arrangements of original material and some of their favourite music, exploring the concept that “everything is jazz”. Fabro’s soulful and powerful vocals are elevated by Botting’s earthy bass and National Jazz Award winner Aaron Flower’s “virtuoso guitar” (John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald).
