** This is an Auslan Interpreted event **

International Day of People with Disability aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being. Many celebrations around this time of year are very caring, loving... and to be honest... a little bit soft. Larry Laughs Loud is excited to be offering something a little different this year to celebrate diversity and embrace difference.... and to make you laugh til your incontinence aid is full!

What we have on the bill, is a number of performers who know how to 'tell it how it is', in their emotional, honest and down right HILARIOUS story telling and stand up comedy performances.

Feature act for this event is the HILARIOUS Imaan Hadchiti! Imaan and his sister were born in Mylor, South Australia, with Rima Syndrome. “The condition is actually named after her,” says the doting brother. “We’re the only ones that have it in the world. All it means is everything is normal and in proportion, from top to tail, just scaled down. It’s not technically dwarfism.”

When Imaan was three his parents divorced and he moved to Melbourne with his mother. It was there he discovered a knack for tickling funny bones.

At 15, a careers counsellor encouraged him to do work experience with a comedian. He went on to win high school comedy competition Class Clowns and the rest is history.

He’s had a love affair with stand-up ever since, living out of a suitcase as he travels the globe chasing laughs. “I never wanted to be the gimmick comedian. I’m a comedian. It’s who I am.”

Warming the stage for Imaan is QLD comedy legend, Brian Freeman. Brian is a regular performer on the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Northern NSW comedy circuits, surprising (or shocking) the crowds with his edgy views and honest accounts of life with Cerebral Palsy and the benefits of having a disability. Brian began performing comedy in 2013 and became a Raw Comedy finalist just a couple of months later. Brian is a regular at The Sit Down Comedy Club in Brisbane, Based comedy on the Gold Coast and with Larry Laughs Loud in the Northern Rivers and was selected to be a support act for Heath Franklin's "Chopper" (NB. By 'selected', he means he turned on the night to watch the show and begged the promoter).

And bringing he vibrant energy and passion for the world to the stage is local comedian and founder of dance troupe ‘Sprung Integrated Dance’, Katie Cooper-Wares. Katie is the mother of a young woman with a physical disability and will share her hilarious yet touching stories of raising a child with a disability and the barriers faced. Katie’s refreshing performance will blow your mind and challenge your attitudes!

Let's not forget out host for the evening..... BJ Connolly! Brisbane's BJ Connolly loves making jokes about autism and all the embarrassing social interactions he endured during his childhood whilst he was in the process of learning how to develop his social skills. BJ also enjoys critiquing the way millennial behave on social media and making jokes about the unconscious mind and explore how the absurd dreams he has at nighttime resonate with everything he experiences when he's awake!

BJ loves being autistic because it allows him to get away with saying a whole lot of inappropriate things that the average person could never get away with saying! At 15 a careers counsellor encouraged him to do work experience with a comedian. He went on to win high school comedy competition Class Clowns and the rest is history.

Also on the line up is QLD comedy legend, Brian Freeman.

And bringing her vibrant energy and passion for the world to the see, is Katie Cooper-Wares! Katie is a teacher of dance, clowning and theatre with Sprung Integrated Dance Troupe. She is also the mother of a young woman (and incredible environmental activist) with a physical disability and will share her hilarious yet touching stories of raising a child with a disability and the barriers faced. Katie’s refreshing performance will blow your mind and challenge your attitudes!
