Come with us for your first introduction to the beautiful local Australian Wildlife at Blackbutt Reserve! 

Spread over 182 hectares of natural bushland you have the opportunity to enjoy nature trails and wildlife exhibits, getting up close to the emus, cockatoos, kangaroos, possums, koalas, wombats and pythons.

Our trip to Blackbutt Reserve will include an animal encounter by the expert park staff, bus transfers to and from the venue and a delicious morning tea.

Departure is from University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus  - Design Bus Stop. Please arrive prior to departure time to ensure you do not miss the bus! For campus map please see our website

Morning session departs 10.00am from Callaghan Campus and returns by 1.00pm

Afternoon session departs at 12.00noon from Callaghan Campus and returns by 3.00pm

What to bring:

  • This is an outdoor venue so please wear comfortable clothes and bring a lightweight jacket 
  • There is a lot to explore, so wear comfortable shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Umbrella (if it looks like rain)
  • Cash if you would like to purchase any souvenirs or a coffee

A refund will be provided with at least 72 hours notice. After this time ticket cancellations will not be refunded

Refund Policy

Refunds up to 3 days before the event, Refunds will be provided if you can no longer attend the event and give min72hrs notice to the University of Newcastle, UON Global Office. You must notify by emailing international-reception@newcastle.edu.au with name and student ID.
