National Archaeology Student Conference is a student-run, student-oriented event which provides a supportive forum for young professionals to network and share their research.
Our 2019 theme, 'The Future of our Past', invites discussion on innovation, inclusion, and exciting interdisciplinary methods within archaeology, along with classic research and fieldwork themes. Participation is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students in archaeology (and directly related disciplines) at all Australian and overseas universities, along with early career researchers.
The 2019 NASC will be hosted by Flinders University in Adelaide from 1-4 October. We are excited to announce Richard Osgood (Operation Nightingale, Digging for Britain, CAW Archaeologist of the Year 2019), and Mitchell Allen (UC Berkeley, Smithsonian Institution) as our keynote speakers, along with other special guests and Australian industry partners.
NASC will feature workshops and presentations by special guests, professional Australian archaeologists and industry partners, and focus around several themed sessions in which student delegates can share their research and fieldwork experiences, along with posters and creative visual art.
There will be an open, public session with special guests on the evening of Wednesday October 2nd, to which we invite all delegates and the wider public (please see our website for details on this session!). Our conference will conclude with a social event open to all delegates and guests: a 2-hour sunset dinner cruise along the historic Port River on the MV Dolphin Explorer.
NASC is an inclusive and enabled event: for our 2019 committee vision and policies on this, please consult our website.
You can stay up to date by checking our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We look forward to welcoming you to NASC 2019.
