The trans-pacific traditional acoustic blues duo, Phil Wiggins & Dom Turner, is a collaboration of old friends—America’s foremost harmonica virtuoso, 2017 US National Heritage Fellowship award recipient Phil Wiggins, and legendary Australian blues guitarist/vocalist, Dom Turner.
Music critic Bruce Elder aptly describes their music as:
“..a reverential homage to those timeless blues masters from 2 blues devotees infused with a real passion that reaches beyond imitation.”
Phil toured the world for the best part of 35 years with the Piedmont Blues duo Cephas & Wiggins. Dom Turner has played and toured for the last 30 years with the acclaimed Australian blues band, Backsliders.
The Phil Wiggins & Dom Turner debut album ‘Owing the Devil a Day’s Work’ was released 27 February 2015 through Rocket Distribution (Australia) and through Itunes and the follow up, ‘Wolf Tickets’ will be released in September 2019.
“This is a reverential homage to those timeless blues masters from 2 blues devotees infused with a real passion that reaches beyond imitation.” Bruce Elder, 2015
“One of the ’must-see’ acts at this years [2015] Bluesfest…Together, these two bring an understanding of the blues which is second to none – they know what they’re doing, and so to watch and listen is a treat indeed.” Samuel J Fell, Rhythms Magazine, Feb 2015
“..a brilliant coming together of two styles of the blues. A perfect symbiosis. Australia-meets-The Delta…at midnight.” Texas Dave, Lone Star Radio 2EAR FM
