Celebrating Bronson's 20th Work Anniversary

CELEBRATING BRONSON THIS WEEKEND

Twenty years ago, Bronson Kies started at Kies Family Wines in the cellar door.

If you ever visited on a Sunday back then, chances are you met him, often running the shift solo, pouring wines, chatting to guests and quietly learning every corner of the business from the ground up.

While doing that, Bronson was studying winemaking at University of Adelaide. For one of his major projects, he designed a winery… which just happens to be the winery we operate out of today. Vision, meet reality.

Fast forward to this year, and Bronson’s wines are being recognised on the national stage. His Sparkling Red was awarded Best Sparkling Red at the Great Australian Shiraz Challenge, taking home the Interpack Trophy. A huge achievement in one of the country’s most competitive wine shows.

Then there’s the White Shiraz.

Born out of necessity in a warm climate with limited white wine options, Bronson poured his heart and soul into creating something different. The result? A wine that won Gold in a red wine category (yes, confusing… and brilliant), and within just four vintages has gone on to rival Deer Stalker as one of our top three best-selling wines.

In many ways, Bronson has been part of the cellar door for longer than he’s been part of the world. Back in 1985, when Tina renovated and opened the cellar door, she was pregnant with Bronson.

He was barely the size of a tennis ball, tucked away in Tina’s belly while the foundations of what we know today were being laid. Long before his first shift, first vintage or first wine, he was already there, woven into the fabric of the place from the very beginning.

Here’s to 20 years of dedication, creativity and quiet determination - the best is yet to come
