Have you ever wanted to write a song but didn’t know where to start? Often, it’s difficult to know where to start – music first or lyrics first? Rhyming or no rhyming?

Music therapy is an allied health stream which assists people to achieve non-musical goals (eg: confidence, wellbeing, mobility, communication and social skills, etc.) by using music as the tool for change. Anyone can benefit from music therapy and there are many interventions that we typically use depending on the goals we are addressing.

Songwriting is an immensely powerful mental health tool and is great for social connection. It is a commonly used evidence-based method in music therapy, and it can be utilised therapeutically 1:1 or in a group. A Registered Music therapist can guide you to get your thoughts down on paper and form them into a song. Your emotions are held safely at all times, which allows you to bond with the group and share in musical connection.

Come along to this group songwriting workshop facilitated by a Registered Music Therapist and leave with a finished song and, of course, new friends. This workshop is a great opportunity for you to experience the power of group creativity and support each other in the process. No prior music experience is needed, Ash will walk you through all the way with lots of laughs thrown in. See you there!
