Join three licensed snake catchers in Canberra - Rudy Della-Flora, Alex Borg and Gavin Smith - for a fun and lively session for younger members of the Canberra public to make them more snake and reptile aware. Hear about the key snake and other reptile species living in the ACT, the environments they inhabit and their basic behaviours. Learn what to do and not to do in the case of a snake encounter and meet some of our Australian reptiles while listening to ‘tails’ from the snake catching field.

The session is designed to make young Canberrans more appreciative of our local reptile population and more aware of the potential for snake encounter in this region. This experience and knowledge will reduce the likelihood of harmful human-snake interactions.

Parents/Carers do not need to stay in the room for the workshop however we ask that they do stay on site at the Arboretum.

Recommended ages 8 – 16

The workshop will run from 10am to Midday in the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion.

Brought to you by the Friends of the National Arboretum Canberra.
