This is Day 2 of our new Common Cause Fundamentals course, for those who have already completed our previous one-day introductory workshop.
With a mix of participants across issues and sectors, the masterclass is an opportunity to learn from each other and to further our common causes. We invite you to bring your experiences of introducing Common Cause to others and incorporating values and frames in your work. Both positive experiences and challenges make great food for thought.
The masterclass is equal parts process and personal development to boost your effectiveness as a changemaker:
- We introduce an implementation process using human-centred design tools that allow those fairly new to take the first steps and those who have worked with Common Cause for a while to take implementation to the next level;
- We also focus on you as the practitioner, developing your imagination, courage and empathy as you work with others in your organisation and beyond.
Who should attend
Our masterclass is tailored for campaigners, communicators, organisers and leaders of progressive organisations who want to motivate deeper and more durable support for their issues and in so doing create a more just, sustainable and democratic world.
We strongly encourage multiple participants per organisation, program or campaign, so that you can start building shared understanding and support each other on the implementation journey. To this end we offer group discounts for 3+ participants from the same organisation.
What others have said
"The workshop helped unlock new, more effective ways of approaching campaign work and strategy in an easily-digestible, interactive, friendly setting. Fantastic!" - Jazz Twemlow, Head Writer, Woody
"This course was a revelation to me, making concrete and useful the concepts of values and frames. It has given me an invaluable insight into how people think and feel, what drives them, and how we may get our message to them in the best way." - Walter Steensby, Web Manager, Canberra Alliance for Participatory Democracy
“Eleanor gave an insightful presentation on the Common Cause approach to our Executive Leadership Team. …What we found quite thought provoking was realising that we currently frame many of the benefits of our programs around financial savings – rather than values of self-direction or universalism. ... [This] has sparked an ongoing conversation on how we can foster a more values based approach as we head into our Business Planning for 2017/18” - Vera Lubczenko, Director Engagement, Sustainability Victoria.
"The masterclass provided the opportunity to apply the principles of values realignment that was both challenging and very rewarding." - Helen Donald, SA Natural Resources Alinytjara Wilurara
