The Public Health Association NT and Climate Action Darwin believe that global warming is real and that together we can influence the future. This event will bring together health professionals and community members to discuss the meaning and implications of a warming climate for the Northern Territory. 

This event will be video streamed.

Guest Speakers  Dr Liz Hanna (RN, RCCN, BA, MPH (UniSyd) PhD (LaTrobe), FPHAA, FACN) Senior Fellow, Fenner School of Environment & Society & Climate Change Institute. Chair of Environmental Health Working Group. World Federation of Public Health Associations from the Australia National University College of Science. She is an expert in climate impacts on human health, adaptation options and strategies to boost community resilience and health sector preparedness, with a specific focus on heat exposures and disasters.

Dr Mark de Souza Emergency Physician, Royal Darwin Hospital and Ms Joanna Kieboom BEng (Mech) Hons, Assets Strategy Manager (Health Portfolio), Department of Infrastructure Planning and Logistics in the Northern Territory Government, and Mr Arne Orstavik from Australian Youth Climate Coalition.

The health sector not only cares for the health of the community but is a creator of waste and a consumer of energy. How can we minimise waste, consume less energy and switch to clever technologies that reduce impact on the environment?

The speakers will talk about their motivations, reflections and actions to work towards healing the environment and reducing climate harm.

Refreshments will be provided.
