Phil Wise is a Director in the Australian Government Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business. Phil leads a research and data team in the Labour Market Research and Analysis Branch that focuses on occupation and industry trends in the labour market, including helping job seekers understand how opportunities for work are changing so they can make informed job search, study or training decisions. Phil’s team is responsible for producing employment projections and online internet vacancy data as well as showcasing labour market information to a broad range of users on the department’s Job Outlook and Labour Market Information Portal websites. This team also works closely with areas across the branch to provide high-quality detailed, relevant, and up-to-date information to support students, job seekers, career planners, training providers, businesses, and policy makers to anticipate and prepare for a changing labour market. Prior to joining the Department of Employment, Phil worked at the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the Census data team. He has a Bachelor of Mathematics (with honours in Applied Statistics) from the University of Wollongong.
