Each child in a Waldorf school makes beautiful music every day. With their class teacher, in chorus, in strings or in music class, they are gaining not only musical skills and knowledge but also a strong sense of musicality. The lyre is an ancient Greek musical instrument that is learnt by students in their primary years at a Waldorf School. It is a beautiful handheld string instrument that was probably the most important and well-known instrument in the Greek world.

The parents of class 1 students at West Coast Steiner are coming together to make a lyre for their child that will be learnt in their primary years. This project is not only about creating a beautiful lyre for our children, but is also about bringing our new parent group together. Through the many hours spent sanding and shaping this beautiful instrument our bond will grow and strengthen.

Class 1 parents are fundraising as we need to purchase the sheoak wood needed for the lyres, as well as the strings and the workshop hire to craft these beautiful instruments. To support us in doing this, we would greatly appreciate your generosity in either:

*Purchasing a $20 raffle ticket, with the grand prize being a thermomix

OR

*A heartfelt donation of your choice

Many thanks for your support from,
