School Refusal - How to look out for early signs and support your young person

Knox City Council is pleased to advise that we are offering a webinar presented by Sonia Prescott, Clinical and Educational Psychologist.  This session is for parents and carers who live, work or play in Knox.

Since the unprecedented COVID-19 events in Victoria, many psychologists have reported an increase in the prevalence of School refusal amongst young people. School refusal is a complex situation which is frustrating not only for the young person themselves, but also for their families and school staff. The understanding that there are many reasons underlying school refusal, assists us to determine how best to respond. This presentation will briefly outline the circumstances in which school refusal may arise, so that early signs may be identified. In addition, a brief outline of a variety of helpful responses to address this important issue will be provided.

Places for this training are limited and bookings are essential.  If you have any queries, please contact Zara Ariarta, Disability Project Officer - Early Years Support via Zara.Ariarta@knox.vic.gov.au or call 9298 8000.
