MOSAIC + TEN PART INVENTION
★★★★.5 — "The Advent of Mosaic, a strong band full of expressive musicians, is a significant event in Australian Jazz History" — Eric Myers, The Australian
Mosaic is a vibrant 10-piece contemporary jazz ensemble rapidly emerging as an exciting force in Sydney jazz. Mosaic performs and premieres all-original compositions commissioned by Australia-wide composers under 25, culminating in a uniquely youthful and energetic sound. Mosaic are touring in support of their 2026 release "Rinse and Repeat", which debuted at #7 on the ARIA Jazz and Blues charts, and #9 on the AIR Independent album charts.
★★★★.5 — "With the icing on the cake being the choice of material in eight inspiring original compositions by Australian composers under the age of 25, this album is a clear and assertive winner from its onset to its outcome" — Barry O' Sullivan, Fine Music
Mosaic will make their Church Street Studios debut on July 3rd, marking the final Sydney show of their "Rinse and Repeat Tour" — Don't miss Mosaic's final Sydney show for 2026!
-------
Ten Part Invention marks forty years since its formation by the legendary John Pochée OAM with the launch of Time Is Moved, their new album on ABC Jazz.
Ten voices. One stage. Co-Musical Directors Miroslav Bukovsky and Sandy Evans lead a band of the country's most decorated improvisers: Paul Cutlan, Andrew Robson, John Mackey, Warwick Alder, James Greening, Steve Elphick, Kevin Hunt, and Rease Cameron.
Collectively, they represent decades of ARIA wins, international festival appearances, and some of the most significant bodies of work in Australian jazz. Through an ever-evolving lineup, Ten Part Invention carries forward the legacy of the late John Pochée OAM and past members, including Roger Frampton, Bernie McGann, Ken James, Bob Bertles and Paul McNamara, performing the works of Australian composers exclusively.
The Sydney Morning Herald called them 'the Rolls Royce of Australian Jazz.' The Age wrote that 'the virtuosity and musicianship are peerless.' Neither verdict has aged.
