THE MATT KEEGAN TRIO returns to Butchers Brew Bar with a fresh new incarnation, featuring STU HUNTER (keys/ synth bass) & MILES THOMAS (drums) — three highly sought-after musicians whose careers span jazz, pop, rock & session work at the highest level.  This new ensemble revisits & reimagines a project that originally ran from 2002–2012, now reborn with a contemporary sound rooted in groove, texture & deep interplay.  Drawing on their diverse musical backgrounds, the trio delivers an engaging & dynamic live experience that moves seamlessly between styles, while maintaining a strong, unified voice.

At the heart of the project is Keegan’s original music, a soulful, groove-driven take on modern jazz fusion.  Much of the repertoire has been developed over the past decade, evolving from solo saxophone compositions into rich, rhythmically driven trio arrangements.  With synth bass anchoring the sound & an emphasis on feel, space & interaction, this is contemporary instrumental music that is both exploratory & accessible, performed by musicians who know how to connect with an audience.
