Discover nature's colour pallet in our natural textile dying workshop. You'll learn how to select and prepare textiles for dying, and how to harvest dye plant materials (flowers, leaves). Then it's time for you to embrace your creativity and put colour to cloth under the guidance of an experienced textile artist. You’ll explore various ways of applying plant colour prints to fabric and cotton rag paper to create colourful and beautiful designs. During this half day course you'll produce one paper sheet & one silk scarf to take home to begin your journey into natural colour.

Includes homemade yummy morning tea. All materials supplied. Additional scarves and paper for cash sale on the day.

The Creator Incubator is where creativity happens. A thriving shed full of artist studios located in eclectic Hamilton, Newcastle. Join us for a workshop and make sure you leave time to visit the gallery and take a wander through studios while you're here!
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Discover nature's colour pallet in our natural textile dying workshop. You'll learn how to select and prepare textiles for dying, how to harvest dye plant materials (wattle, eucalyptus, elder flower...) & use commercially prepared dyes (madder, saffron, logwood). Then it's time for you to embrace your creativity and put colour to cloth under the guidance of an experienced textile artist. Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist technique that results in beautiful designs on textiles. You’ll explore the possibilities of tying, clamping and more as an introduction to Shibori. During this half day course you'll produce a range of samples & a scarf to take home to begin your journey into natural textile dying.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Refunds available for cancellations made at least 30 days in advance.  Otherwise upon cancellation by the student refunds will only be awarded if we are able to fill your booked place. This still applies if the workshop is not fully booked, as we require a minimum number of placements to be filled in order to run the workshop and offer confirmation to students. Confirmation of the workshop will be made at the latest 14 days prior to commencement. In the event the workshop is postponed due to low enrollment numbers or other circumstances, you will be offered the choice of a full refund or credit towards any other course.

Refund Policy

Refunds up to 30 days before the event, Cancellations prior to 30 days are eligible for a refund, otherwise upon cancellation by the student refunds will only be awarded if we are able to fill your booked place. No transfers or credits will be made.
