The Brisbane Improv Festival is excited to be hosting 22 Improvisation Workshops as part of the 2023 Festival with facilitators from all over Australia and New Zealand.
Let's Build a Format!
Facilitated by Liam Webber (From Nottingham UK. Living in Sydney NSW)
As an improviser, our job is to "make our scene partner look good"... The same can be said for an improv format - it should give the performers on stage the chance to truly shine! The right format plays to the strengths of the cast as individuals and as an ensemble, it engages their imaginations in new and exciting ways every time they play, and most importantly it sparks their improv joy. Our aim for this workshop is to connect as an ensemble and together to create a format which brings out the best in this specific group of people, before putting it into action with a showcase at the festival. Expect an active workshop with lots of reps and a peek into Liam's process of building new formats which put joy and the ensemble front and centre.
Please note that any Festival shows cast from workshops is at the discretion of the show's director and is not guaranteed. Please go into workshops with a view to learning new improv skills and having fun. Any performance opportunity is a bonus.
