John Holland_ETW Application Briefing

In 2012 John Holland Rail Pty Ltd commenced a 10 year Operations and Maintenance contract with Transport for NSW for the rail network known as the Country Regional Network. As part of this contract, John Holland became the first private entity to be accredited to operate and maintain a heavy haul rail network in NSW.

The Country Regional Network comprises of several rail corridors which are located across geographically diverse areas within the state of NSW. Some of these lines form part of the main rail routes between capital cities, while others are in remote regional areas and serve as a means to transport Grain for both domestic and export consumption.

There is a total of 5,000 km of rail that is included within the Country Regional network, with almost 50% of this being currently operational.

The ETW Application project is an initiative of John Holland, and has the primary objective to utilise the efficiencies and improvements realised as part of the Electronic Authorities project, and apply to Track Occupancy Authorities. Once introduced, these efficiencies will realise a gain in the communication process, further strengthening the imperative of a clear and concise exchange of information between the Network Control Officer and Protection Officer.
