Long before streaming services, stadiums and social media, people gathered around campfires, in village halls and eventually beneath the lights of local theatres. Different places. Different generations. The same instinct to connect through creativity, conversation and music.

Beyond the Curtain is our way of celebrating that tradition.

Across three remarkable regional theatres, we're inviting audiences to experience something far more than a concert. Before each performance, we'll pull back the curtain and explore the stories, experiences and moments that shaped the songs you're about to hear. It's an intimate evening where conversation and performance stand side by side—because sometimes understanding the story behind a song makes hearing it even more powerful.

Everything about this tour has been chosen with intention.

The theatres aren't simply places to perform, they're part of the story. Each has its own history, its own community and its own place in the cultural fabric of regional New South Wales. These venues have welcomed generations of audiences and continue to remind us that, no matter how the world changes, people will always need places to gather.

The artists were selected with that same philosophy in mind.

Each is a genuine storyteller, writing songs inspired by the people they've met, the places they've travelled and the moments that have shaped them. They each bring their own unique voice, yet all share the same belief—that music remains one of the most powerful ways we tell our human stories.

Meet the Artists

Val Moogz

Headlining The Kinema, Narooma, Val Moogz is an acclaimed indie-pop and funky-folk songwriter whose heartfelt storytelling has earned them a devoted following throughout regional Australia. Based on the NSW South Coast, Val creates music celebrating authenticity, connection and community while championing queer visibility through songs that are deeply personal and universally relatable. Having supported Ben Lee, The Whitlams, Alex Lloyd and Kingswood, Val brings warmth, humour and genuine connection to every performance.

Blue Mallee

Headlining their hometown performance at Milton Theatre, Blue Mallee are an innovative indie-folk duo whose soaring harmonies, ambient soundscapes and traditional folk influences create performances that are both intimate and cinematic. Known for evocative storytelling and dynamic musicianship, they have shared stages with The Black Sorrows, Ash Grunwald and The Audreys, establishing themselves as one of regional NSW's most exciting emerging acts.

Benji Fowler

Headlining Headland Theatre, Tathra, Benji Fowler is a singer-songwriter whose music is deeply inspired by Australia's coastline, people and landscapes. Best known as the songwriter behind Benji & The Saltwater Sound System, Benji's songs blend folk, roots, indie and soulful grooves with honest storytelling and rich lyrical imagery. For Beyond the Curtain, audiences will experience his music as it was first written, stripped back, intimate and beautifully personal.
