The Brisbane Improv Festival is excited to be hosting 22 Improvisation Workshops as part of the 2023 Festival with facilitators from all over Australia and New Zealand.
The Mockumentary
Facilitated by Lindsay Drummond (Improv Hub, Brisbane Qld)
We will be learning the structure and skills to perform this fast-moving, fun improv format. You will be creating interesting characters and hilarious premise for a made up on the spot Documentary!!!
In the style of spinal tap, a mighty wind, best in show, this country, we could be heroes, etc. the Mockumentary is funny, character based and breaking the 4th wall! It is a very different format to most 'in scene' improv.
We will discover interesting characters, places, and relationships, with the addition of expert fact-checks, infomercials, and advertisements to really spice it up!
Rather than doing scenes where we talk TO each other, we are doing them WITH each other to the imaginary camera crew (the audience)!
Let’s create instant fun with wacky idiosyncratic characters, a loose narrative, hilarious interjections with a dash of audience participation.
This is an intermediate/advanced class.
Please note that any Festival shows cast from workshops is at the discretion of the show's director and is not guaranteed. Please go into workshops with a view to learning new improv skills and having fun. Any performance opportunity is a bonus.
