So why do we unite? Well, Girls on Key has recently published: Askerisks in the Pond by Kathryn Ross and Dreams at the Crossroads by Anke. Two exciting new books by two fantastic poets. Anke is a generous-spirited poet, artist, and animator who convenes the much-loved Perc.U.lations poetry gig in Dandenong. Kathryn Ross is an enthralling poet whose words convey haunting, and striking meanings. Over the years, both women have been such positive listeners, contributors and supporters to Girls on Key and Radio Laria; and we are thrilled to celebrate their books together. Be a part of the experience and everyone is welcome to share on the open mic (ten spots available, five-minute limit, sign up on the night, and arriving early is recommended for sign up).

Doors open at 7pm and the live poetry kicks off at 07:30.

The audience is very supportive, and we welcome new readers. Men are welcome to share on the open mic, but please be mindful that this is a night to promote women and women-identifying poets, and we ask that you behave respectfully.

Our venue, the grassroots Black Spark Cultural Centre, serves two things that most poets love… coffee and wine! (Other options available if you don’t fit that stereotype…) You are also allowed to bring in food from outside as long as it’s not too messy. Come along and join this warm, vibrant poetry community and check out what else is going on at the Black Spark Cultural Centre.
