EC Manfred was an English born Australian architect who was prominent for his works for designing some of the most iconic buildings and parks in Goulburn, and one or two around Canberra. His work spanned late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The presenters are members of the Goulburn Heritage Group will illustrate the story of Edmund Manfred, supported by beautiful examples of his works in Goulburn and in surrounding areas, including the magnificent stables built at Yarralumla and the additions to Mona, Braidwood held in the National Library.
Goulburn’s busiest and grandest building period was in the wool-boom era at the end of the 1800s - and the most influential architect of this period was Edmund Cooper Manfred.

Not only do most of his well designed buildings still stand but his entire supportive professional office documentation survives - design drawings, contract papers, accounts, correspondence, photographs and newspaper clippings.
