Details

The County Court of Victoria Schools Program gives Legal Studies students the opportunity to engage with a judge and discuss a range of topics relevant to their curriculum, such as the role and responsibilities of a judge, the details of hearing and trial processes, and current developments and challenges facing the courts.

The session will run from 9–10am. You will receive your meeting link the week prior to your booked session. Students and teachers can join the session individually if remote learning, or through a classroom setup if attending school onsite.

Booking information:

  • Teachers should book on behalf of their students. They must use their school email address when booking.
  • A teacher may book for as many students for their school as required.
  • More than one school may book for any session.

During the session:

  • The judge will begin with an introductory talk. The judge’s associates may also introduce themselves.
  • There will then be an opportunity for questions and discussion. Students can ask the judge questions directly, or through their teacher. Teachers can also send in their students’ questions in advance.
  • To enable engagement and interaction, these sessions are held with cameras on.
  • We expect that students behave respectfully towards the judge as they would in a court setting, and refrain from talking between themselves.
