Every year in March, we come together to say the names of the treasured babies and children we have loved and lost – to honour their memory while highlighting the profound impact of each of these deaths.

We invite you to join us on March 28th, as Red Nose Grief and Loss welcome you to our annual Sydney Say Their Name Day Remembrance Service. This event is proudly supported by Metropolitan Memorial Parks.

This year, our service will be held in The Lotus Pavillion, a serene open-air non-denominational chapel surrounded by tranquil gardens. The Pavilion is designed to be suitable for wet conditions and is located on the grounds of Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium.

Our Service will commence at 10am, we ask for your arrival between 9.45 - 10am so we can all be seated and comfortable for the 10am start. We invite you to stay for light refreshments after the service concludes.

During the slideshow, families will be invited forward as their baby’s or child’s name is displayed. At this time, families are invited to place a photo or keepsake on the tribute table and light a candle in their honour. This will be a special moment just for their family.

We kindly ask that all attendees planning to join the service confirm their registration by booking via sticky tickets and sharing their baby or child’s name exactly as they would like it to appear on the tribute slideshow.

To allow us enough time to thoughtfully prepare and finalise the slideshow with the care and attention it deserves, we would be so grateful to receive names byFriday 20th March 2026.

For anyone who is unable to provide their little one’s name by this date, please know there will be a special slide at the end that lovingly includes all the precious children whose names were not featured individually. Every little one is equally important and deeply cherished.

We wish to respectfully advise that photography and/or videography may take place during the memorial service to capture and honour this special time of remembrance. We understand that not everyone may feel comfortable being photographed. If you prefer that you or your family not be included in any images or recordings, please let our staff know at the time of registration so we can ensure your wishes are respected.

Event Guidelines

Our purpose in coming together is to find comfort in connection. We are united in our grief, though our circumstances and timelines differ. There will be diversity across our attendees, including diversity of losses. In keeping with the principle of ‘no hierarchy of grief’, we recognise and respect the grief of all who attend. Depending on the event type, please be mindful that there may be pregnant people or children present.

While this event is open to all bereaved families, the safety and supervision of children in your care remains the responsibility of their caregivers. The Lotus Pavillion is set within peaceful gardens that include a fishpond, so we kindly ask that children are supervised at all times.

We understand that children express themselves in many ways. To support the quiet and reflective nature of this remembrance service, we gently ask that children attending are kept close to their caregivers wherever possible.

We understand that some cultures decline to speak the name of a life that has passed. Please know that at Red Nose we honour this tradition and would always adhere to what is acceptable for you and your family in this space of sharing and honouring a life loved.

Why Say Their Name?

When a baby or child dies, life as we know it stops – for parents, families and their wider communities.

This pain cannot be fixed, only carried. What makes this pain lighter to bear is often the simple acknowledgement of this reality from those who matter.

Saying a baby or child’s name alongside those who loved him or her is a powerful act of kindness and acknowledgement that requires no special knowledge or experience.

Say Their Name Day is a day for the whole community to demonstrate that every little life matters and deserves to be celebrated, and that bereaved families are deserving of all the support we can give.

Name by name, we're helping to break the stigma that prevents families from seeking support to help in their healing, in finding hope for the future, and in coping with their new “normal”.

Join with us this Say Their Name Day and together we can remember every little life and support bereaved families.
