THE ABBY CONSTABLE TRIO + HAZTET

Sydney-based drummer ABBY CONSTABLE leads a dynamic chordless trio, joined by renowned musicians Julien Wilson (tenor saxophone) and Noel Mason (double bass), both of whom have been profoundly inspiring in recent years of Abby’s musical journey. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium’s jazz program, Abby’s style is rooted in traditional swing while also drawing influence from South American and Afro-Latin rhythms, inspired by her studies in Argentina and Brazil. She has performed extensively across Sydney and Melbourne, as well as internationally in Argentina, Berlin, Budapest, Croatia, and Transylvania.

Eora/Sydney, based spiritual jazz / improvised groove collective HAZTET explore a cosmic vastitude of dense sonic realms, guided continuously by the rich, bountiful osmosis of improvised collaborative experimentation. Profoundly inspired by the music of luminaries Mulatu Astatke, Pharoah Sanders, Joe Henderson and John Coltrane as well as oz legends Barney McAll, Julien Wilson, Close Counters and 30/70, audiences can expect vibrant jazz harmony, percussion driven Afro-infused dance grooves and layered ambient SFX soundscapes.
