**PLEASE NOTE: Those who are participating at their own school have from receipt of posted samples until 5.00pm (W. Australia Standard Time) Friday 26th June 2026 to run the Competition and return results**
In 2026, ALL WA schools (including those who choose not to attend in person at a university site) are invited to take part in the WA Titration Competition at their own school. There is no restriction on the number of teams that can be entered in this part of the competition.
For all teams competing in the WA competition, the analysis is as follows:
"The analysis involves preparation of a standard solution of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) (provided), standardisation of a NaOH solution, and titration of a second sample of KHP (the ‘Unknown’). Judging is on the values reported for the amount of KHP in the unknown sample."
Please note:
- Teams comprise of three students.
- Each student performs their own individual titration/analysis; individual results are then combined for team scoring.
- Once registrations are received, you will be contacted by the competition coordinator with further information, and to verify your postage address. Samples will then be posted to your school.
- Once samples have been received, teachers can choose when the Titration Competition will run in their school - they can hold their competition at any time that suits them (students to have 2 hours to compete), with the final deadline for results to be submitted by the due date.
Registration for this event will close on Friday 29th May 2026.
Please note:
Early registration is encouraged as the samples will need to be prepared and mailed to schools in advance of the competition.
The closing date for own school entry registrations is Friday 29th May 2026.
The closing date for competition results to be received back from schools via email is 5:00 PM Friday 26th June 2026.
