Step inside the scene, not just the theory. This live observation and discussion workshop invites you to experience the dynamic interplay between rigger and model as it unfolds in real time. Experience a live scene from every angle in this immersive 360-degree demonstration, where Sparks will present two separate scenes—tying two different models to showcase real-time exploration within clearly negotiated boundaries. One of the models might even be selected from the audience on the night!!
Watch decisions being made moment by moment, see how communication and intention shape each scene, and gain a deeper understanding of both sides of the rope. The audience is invited to observe the full experience as it happens—taking in the interactions, choices, and shifting energy in real time.
After each demonstration, there will be an open Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insight into both the technical and experiential aspects from everyone involved.
Prequisite - a curious mind
This workshop is suitable for everyone - no previous experience is required
Explore the roots of restraint in this introduction to Hojo Jutsu, the traditional Japanese art of capture and control. This workshop offers a glimpse into a more historical style of tying, with a focus on structure, intention, and its inherently sadistic undertones.
Open to anyone curious about expanding their practice, this session builds on foundational skills while introducing the mindset and techniques that distinguish Hojo Jutsu from modern rope styles.
Prerequisites - confidence with a single column tie and Hojo-style cuffs.
This workshop is not suitable for people with no experience / no foundation skills.
4 hanks of rope recommended. Cutting implement required.
Body harnesses are one of the most versatile tools you can have in your rope tool kit—but knowing a pattern or two is just the beginning. This workshop dives deeper into how body harnesses actually function, how to use them with intention, and how to adapt them to suit different scenes and bodies.
We’ll explore pathway choices and the reasoning behind them, helping you understand not just how to tie, but why. You’ll also learn ways to incorporate the arms when they are not part of the harness, opening up more creative and practical options in your tying. From there, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment—whether through grounded floor work or light partial suspension elements—based on your experience level and comfort.
This is a hands-on, exploratory class designed to build confidence, expand your toolkit, and deepen your understanding of body harnesses in practice.
Prerequisites -2-part TK and basic rope frictions.
This workshop is not suitable for people with no experience / no foundation skills.
4-8 hanks of rope recommended for floor bound work. Cutting implement required
8-12 hanks of rope & suspension gear of choice (ring/carabiners) recommended for partials. Cutting implement required.
An open description workshop specifically for participants who are at an 'experienced intermediate' or 'advanced' level.
This workshop allows time for deeper exploration, experimentation, and extended rope work. Looking not only at the technical side of rope, but the meaning behind what we do, the nuances, the way we interact with our partners, and more.
Prerequisites - Competent 3-part TK, solid upline management and suspension experience
This workshop is suitable for advanced levels only. Experience with full suspension for both the rigger and model is expected.
8-12 hanks of rope & suspension gear of choice (ring/carabiners) recommended. Cutting implement required.
