Join us for our August edition of the Cultural Safety and Intercultural Communication Seminars, titled: Considerations and Complexities of Finishing Up.

This panel discussion will focus on palliative care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and is hosted by Menzies Communicate Study Partnership First Nations Research Officer, Christopher Davis.

He will be joined by:

• Samantha Harrington: I am the Rural & Remote Clinical Nurse Consultant with Palliative Care, with over 25 years of nursing experience in the Top End. I work alongside families and health care colleagues to deliver culturally sensitive EOLC across the regional and remote areas of the Top End. I am a strong advocate for Advance Personal Planning; promoting and educating on the need for early discussions, to ensure we are delivering the care people want, in they place they wish to receive it.
• Lorenz Pilkington: I am a Noongar Baladong and Wudjari, but I grew in Geraldton on Yamatji Country. I worked for the Federal Government for 23 years various roles from project work to auditing CEDP projects. I am currently employed as an Aboriginal Liaison officer with Territory Palliative Care, and assist First Nations people and their families when they are referred to the service. However, I work with all patients regardless of ethnicity. We work in a strong team that prioritises the holistic needs of patients and their families.

This event is targeted to Northern Territory health professionals, looking to grow their skills in providing culturally safe healthcare.
