Spike Mason Trio (TAS, US & Sydney)

A rare chance to hear Spike Mason (Tassie), Mark Lau (NYC) & Dave Goodman (SYD) play some original & classic jazz.  Spike used to bring his kids to Butchers Brew two decades ago when the store was his local butcher. (they loved going the complimentary slice of salami)

Spike has played music with musicians in Australia, the US, the UK, Canada, Ireland, Greece, Singapore, Italy, The Czech Republic, Holland, Turkey & NZ in a creer spanning 30+ years.

He has performed at countless festivals and clubs, from stadium stages to people's kitchens, with both famous & unknown musicians, in front of very large & very small crowds.

He has also been a session musician for many diverse artists, helping them make their music a reality, by recording, composing, arranging & producing on over 200 albums, including soundtracks for film & TV

Mark Lau is a bassist/ composer originally from Sydney & now living in downtown Manhattan, performing at venues such as Birdland, Dizzy's Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center &  Sweet Rhythm.  

He has performed with musicians such as Dave Liebman, Dick Oatts, Cecil Bridgewater, Phil Markowitz, Michael Feinstein, Joel Frahm, Bob Sheppard, Avishai Cohen, Gordon Brisker, Don Rader, Tony Gould, Tim Stevens, Mark Isaacs & Dale Barlow. 

Mark has played at major festivals around the world including the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland, the Rome Film Festival & the Hong Kong Fringe Festival, & played on numerous recordings &  albums. 

Dave Goodman is a Sydney-based drummer, composer, bandleader & educator.  He plays with some of Australia’s most important jazz ensembles & has worked with a long list of luminaries - both Australian and international - including Joe Lovano, Bob Berg, Bernie McGann, James Morrison, Don Burrows, Vince Jones, Mike Nock & Mark Isaacs.
