Boomi Amateur Thespian Society

Our Story

In 1991, the small town of Boomi established an amateur theatre group named Boomi Amateur Thespian Society (B.A.T.S). The group was initially formed to raise money for the local primary school. Throughout the years the B.A.T.S productions have grown and now run bi-annually. This year we will be seeing in our 19th year of producing good old-fashioned theatre.

The B.A.T.S production has become the main local fundraiser, seeing all funds from the show returned into the community to support education, business, infrastructure, sporting groups, charities and many more.

We produce four shows over two weekends towards the end of August every second year. This year our show dates fall on the 25th and 26th of August and the 1st and 2nd of September 2023.  The show hosts visitors from interstate and afar, with people enquiring for tickets months in advance.

Who are the faces of B.A.T.S? Local farmers, wives, grandparents, publicans, teachers, and many more make up the cast of the show. Some cast members have been in every show since the beginning.

The B.A.T.S scripts are 100% original scripts written by local community members. The shows are written and performed to be humorous, entertaining, and somewhat musical – songs from across the decades to keep everyone singing along!

A ticket to the B.A.T.S production is a two-hour fun filled comedy musical show. This includes a pre-show entree followed by a sit-down meal (prepared by a local caterer), good old-fashioned homemade sweets for dessert at interval and full bar facilities throughout.

Preparation for this year’s Production is in full swing.

We hope to see you there!
