Multi-award winning MZAZA’s unique blend of folk inspires audiences internationally. Led by mesmerising French-Sephardic vocalist Pauline Maudy, these incredible musicians from Bosnia, Brazil, France, New Zealand and Australia harness Balkan and French influences to craft a musical ride that taps into the beating heart of humankind. These consummate performers can't wait to return to Sydney after two years and to share some music with you.
The impressive musicianship of MZAZA – deftly realised with accordion, violin, shah kaman (Persian violin), Spanish guitar, percussion, double bass – embraces diversity, the old and the new, the familiar and the foreign, through timeless melodies. It is the timelessness of the music and stories that fuels an intense live show, an unforgettable musical journey, that has enraptured audiences internationally.
‘Songlines Magazine’ calls their latest studio album ‘The Birth & Death of Stars’, which was recorded in Athens “a cross-genre cornucopia, a giver of gifts both aural and cerebral... A supernova of an album” Drawing inspiration from astronomy, philosophy and mythology, MZAZA’s third album was released in 2020 and explores what links us to each other and the world around us.
