Event Details

Queensland Youth Cancer Service (QYCS) invites all clinicians with an interest in Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer to the Introduction to AYA Cancer Workshop: 25 October 2022.

The Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) years are a time of great development, with emerging independence, self-image, sexuality, social and peer acceptance, career and education considerations. A cancer diagnosis at any age is terrible – but for an AYA, this interruption in development has unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual consequences.

This workshop will equip you with a basic understanding of the factors that impact on a young person’s physical, social and emotional wellbeing after a cancer diagnosis. In addition to practical learning, you will have opportunity to workshop specific AYA cancer communication techniques and gain knowledge of current referral practices and pathways.
