A Festival of Jazz - Celebrating 10 Years of The Jazz Sessions

Join us on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Buderim War Memorial Hall for a special evening celebrating a decade of world-class jazz on the Sunshine Coast. Since 2015, The Jazz Sessions have been a cornerstone of the local music scene, bringing together local, national, and international artists to share their passion for jazz with our community.

This milestone festival features a diverse lineup of performances:

  • Glasshouse Country Christian College Jazz Band – Experience the next generation of jazz talent as these young musicians showcase their skills and enthusiasm.
  • Camaron de la Vega Duo – Immerse yourself in the soulful fusion of flamenco, jazz, and world rhythms as Camaron de la Vega delivers a captivating performance.
  • Wil Sargisson Trio – A New Zealand-born piano prodigy, Wil made waves at the prestigious New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at just 17.   Wil is known for his dazzling technique and deep knowledge of Boogie Woogie, Harlem Stride, and New Orleans R&B.

Wil’s talent has taken him around the world and has seen him play with international acts that include ‘The Coasters’ and ‘The Platters’, perform at dozens of Jazz Festivals over Australia, USA and New Zealand, feature on about 2 dozen albums from Jazz trios to Blues quartets to Funk ensembles and now has him playing for internationally -renowned Australian Jazz band, ‘Galapagos Duck’.

Wil, who was one of the first acts to perform at The Jazz Sessions, is coming to the Buderim War Memorial Hall to help us celebrate ten years of The Jazz Sessions by playing some swinging arrangements of blues-infused jazz numbers. Joined by Elliot Parker on Bass and Mitch Bellert on Drums, the music of Oscar Peterson may feature heavily, along with the Ray Brown Trio, and some other mid-century gems.   Delight in the high-energy boogie-woogie and New Orleans R&B stylings of this internationally acclaimed pianist.

"If you can imagine a hybrid of Oscar Peterson, Dave McKenna, James Booker & Albert Ammons... you’re pretty close!"

Whether you're a longtime jazz enthusiast or new to the genre, this festival promises an unforgettable evening of music, celebration, and community.
