A listening walk is a rare opportunity to be present in the moment and tune into to the sounds of the world around us. This will involve walking silently through Curry’s Gap, feet aware of the earth and ears attuned to the sounds around us, for perhaps 20-30 minutes. At the conclusion, we may share our experiences and discuss what we've heard. This meditative activity will bring us back to the present and to our connection with each other.

Andrew will interpret some of the sounds that we have noticed, including what these tell us about natural species’ behaviour, why the specific sounds are used and how they have evolved into the sounds we hear today.

Andrew will discuss the ease of nature sound recording. This includes the various microphone and recorder options available to capture sound to suit the purpose of recording. He then discusses the field skills involved in working with wildlife and getting microphones into the right location to make clear recordings, either for analysis or for enjoyable listening.
