Details
Curtin University will be running the competition on Tuesday 18 June 2024. Teachers are welcome to register teams from their schools.
For all teams competing in the WA competition, the analysis to be conducted is as follows:
"The analysis to be conducted involves preparation of a standard solution of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) (provided), standardisation of a solution of NaOH, and titration of a second sample of KHP. Judging is on the basis of the values reported for the amount of KHP in the Unknown Sample."
The competition will commence at 5.30 pm on Monday 18 June 2024. (Teams will be greeted from 4.15pm please no earlier and try to arrive by 5.00pm)
Please note:- teams comprise of 3 people;
- schools will need to choose the appropriate ticket type when registering - use of university equipment or use of their own equipment;
- up to two (2) registered teams per school - this can be you choosing to use university equipment, bringing your own, or a combination of these;
- schools choosing to use their own equipment are responsible for the transport, handling and care of their own equipment for the event;
- schools are responsible for the safe transport of their students to and from the event in line with their relevant excursion procedures and are expected to provide appropriate duty of care for students participating at the event. It is also not recommended that students travel through the campus unaccompanied;
- there is no catering for students and teachers at this event.
- schools are also competing at other venues and in their own schools so there will not be a declaration of results on the day.
- further information will be provided to registered schools in due course through the event organiser or a delegate from the University.
