Event Details

Families play a vital role in uncovering the strengths, interests, and aspirations that shape meaningful employment pathways. The Family Discovery Program is designed to help families become active partners in the Customised Employment process; recognising everyday skills, environments, and experiences that reveal potential career directions.

In this live session, Dr. Peter Smith and the CDERP team will introduce the principles and tools that make Family Discovery a cornerstone of inclusive employment practice. You’ll learn how to observe, interpret, and support your family member’s strengths in ways that lead to authentic, sustainable work outcomes.

What You’ll Learn

  • How the Family Discovery process complements Discovery and Customised Employment.
  • Practical strategies families can use to identify skills and environmental preferences.
  • Insights from real case studies showing how family insights transform employment planning.
  • How Family Discovery connects with the Discovery Experience Reflection Scale (DERS) and other CDERP tools.
