As a part of Small Business Month, Byron Shire Council is hosting a free, hands on workshop to help businesses welcome customers with disability and make their business more accessible and inclusive for all.

In Australia, 1 in 5 people identify as having a disability. Accessible and inclusive offerings provide experiences and services that accommodate the needs of all people.

As a business owner or manager, you are welcome to join this workshop in person or online and gain new skills to implement in your business immediately. Small business and accessibility expert, Jackie Hicks from Sparrowly Group, will lead this workshop.

What you will get out of this workshop:

  • Learn from experts about the value of making your business more accessible and inclusive, why it matters for your business and how to secure customers as a result.
  • Gain confidence with a guided activity to identify gaps in your business communications with a review of your own website.
  • Build skills specific to communications and customer service to implement immediately.
  • Access information with resources, tips and recommendations shared in the workshop.
  • Walk away with an actionable list to easily implement and an understanding of best practices to move toward.

Please note - please arrive at 11.45 am for 12pm start (finish time will be 2 pm). As this is running over lunchtime, a light lunch will be provided.

We look forward to seeing you there!
