Jody Sternberg – vocal, saxophone, flute

David Lewis – trumpet, flugelhorn

Chris Cody – piano

Morcheeba alum, Jody Sternberg and Paris Combo co-founder, David Lewis, join forces with outstanding Sydney pianist Chris Cody to offer an eclectic repertoire, mixing French songs, jazz standards and original compositions. Both Paris-based Australians, Lewis’ melodic, colourful trumpet and flugelhorn interweave effortlessly with Sternberg’s warm voice and feeling for lyric, playfully mixing languages and musical styles.

JODY STERNBERG: Originally from Sydney, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jody Sternberg studied the saxophone in the US and then moved to France to pursue her music career. In Paris, her warm contralto voice gradually became Sternberg’s main instrument, although her lyrical saxophone remains a feature of her performances.

She is a regular fixture in Paris jazz venues, leading a quartet with French jazz piano legend Alain Jean-Marie. Her duo album with Jean-Marie, Castles In the Sand, released in June 2023, drew critical acclaim including a 4/4 star-review in the French cultural weekly Télérama.

Sternberg fronted British trip-hop group Morcheebafor their Antidote international tour after co-writing the single “Wonders Never Cease” and has collaborated with many Paris-based artists including Arthur H, The Marathoniansand Marc Collin(Nouvelle Vague).

With David Lewis she also leads a quintet paying tribute to cabaret icon Eartha Kitt.

DAVID LEWIS: Australian-born trumpeter, pianist and composer David Lewis is co-founder of the internationally-renowned group Paris Combo, with which he recorded nine albums and performed world-wide over a 25-year period until the untimely passing of the group’s singer-songwriter Belle du Berry in 2020. Paris Combo have toured Australia six times, including three exclusive performances with guest artists at the 2023 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, in a tribute to Belle du Berry.

Originally travelling to France to study music, Lewis went on to tour and record extensively with African-Jazz legend Manu Dibango. As instrumentalist and composer-arranger he has also worked with a diverse array of Paris-based artists including Gianmaria Testa, Arthur H, Marc Perrone, Maurane, Carla Bruni, Lokua Kanza, Cabaret Sauvage, l’Orchestre de la Lune, John Greavesand, most recently renowned choreographer Philippe Decouflé

Current projects include a quintet with fellow Australian Jody Sternberg, paying tribute to cabaret icon Eartha Kitt.
