Movie: Dog Man (G)

From DreamWorks Animation, creators of Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, and The Boss Baby, comes a film adaptation of Dav Pilkey's bestselling series: Dog Man. The story follows a police dog and his human owner who are injured on the job. A quirky surgery fuses them together, creating Dog Man, who is now sworn to protect and serve. As Dog Man embraces his new identity, he faces the evil schemes of Petey the Cat, a villainous feline trying to clone himself and double his crime capacity.


Dog Man's journey takes an unexpected turn when Petey's clone, Lil Petey, forms an unlikely bond with him. Things escalate as Lil Petey is captured by a common enemy, forcing Dog Man and Petey to join forces in a race against time to rescue the kitten. Along the way, they discover the power of family and the ability to unite even the most unlikely allies.


The film features an ensemble cast, including Isla Fisher, Poppy Liu, Stephen Root, Billy Boyd, and Ricky Gervais. It is directed by Peter Hastings, known for The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants and Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. Launched in 2016, Pilkey's Dog Man series has sold over 60 million copies and been translated into 45 languages. The most recent book, Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea, was the #1 bestselling children’s book in 2023.
