How to Avoid the Slippery Slope of Burnout

40-minute Lunch & Learn | In person presentation at Ashcliffe Psychology

Burnout rarely happens overnight. More often, it develops gradually as ongoing demands, stress and reduced recovery begin to take their toll.

This practical 40-minute Lunch & Learn is designed for anyone who feels they may be running on empty, struggling to switch off, becoming increasingly exhausted or concerned that they are heading towards burnout.

The session will explore what burnout is, how it differs from everyday stress, and some of the physical, emotional and behavioural warning signs that can indicate you are moving further down the “slippery slope”.

We will focus on three practical steps for responding to burnout risk:

  • Recognise the warning signs before they become more severe
  • Reverse some of the effects of prolonged stress and exhaustion
  • Restore balance through practical strategies involving boundaries, recovery, activity, connection and meaningful engagement

The aim is not simply to tell people to “look after themselves”, but to provide a framework for recognising when stress is becoming problematic and identifying realistic changes that can help protect psychological wellbeing.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

This session may be particularly useful if you have noticed increasing fatigue, reduced motivation, difficulty switching off from work, irritability, withdrawal, changes in sleep, or a growing sense that you are simply not recovering between periods of stress.

Places are limited. Registration is required.
