The focus of this second workshop in our Fire Series will be a participatory workshop focused on Fire Action Planning. This event will be co-led by experts, such as Dan Purnell from the Glenn Innes RFS and local Tenterfield RFS stations, working with a cross-section of community members who have created model Bushfire Preparedness plans, based on their experiences in the 2019/20 and 2023 bushfires. These speakers represent a cross section of community members, with differing backgrounds, contexts, qualifications, aspirations and each will speak around maps of their properties and Tenterfield Shire. People just like us, that we can relate to. Our experts will offer further suggestions to model how these Fire Action Plans can be improved.

These Fire Action Plans address three key dimensions of your Fire Action Plan:

  1. Fire Knowledge and Awareness (fire behaviour and firefighting resources across the landscape)
  2. Steps to take in Fire Planning and Emergency (before and during)
  3. Connecting in Fire events (communication and collaboration)

In the afternoon, you, too, will be given the opportunity to brainstorm key learnings from your own experience and to hear from others, in order to contribute to Master Fire Action Plans. Resource lists for fire response  and maps will be provided.
