PAR3

PAR3 is a new project from Scott Saunders, founder of dig (directions in groove) which took a distinctly Australian Jazz Funk musical style to the world.  PAR3 is a classic soul jazz organ trio that takes stylistic cues from artists of the 60s/ 70s like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Lonnie Smith, Jack McDuff & others who were creating a new musical style that synthesised Jazz, Soul, R&B, Blues, Gospel, Latin & Pop.

This is music that is joyous, soulful & most importantly, danceable.

For Saunders this marks an overdue return to the passions that drive him - writing & performing original music that grooves.  The trio features Saunders on organ & vocals, ably accompanied by the scintillating beats of Ivan Jordan, one of the grooviest & most versatile drummers around town, & the super smooth & ultra-tasteful stylings of Sam Rollings on guitar. 

The repertoire comprises originals, mixed with vintage funky jazz organ Jams & reinvented covers of classic pop songs.  This is a logical extension of the dig ethos that took jazz to the dancefloor & made it accessible to the widest possible audience.
