Presented by: Kylie Perry and Soph Shephard

Kylie Perry

Kylie Perry completed her Bachelor of Applied Science Physiotherapy in 2001, she returned to University of Sydney in 2007 and completed a Master in Health Science Sports Physiotherapy degree. From early in her career Kylie recognised the varied presentations and experiences of people presenting to her with pain. What started as curiosity to understand this phenomenon has developed into a passion to continue to learn more and share this new pain science in order to help people rethink pain, re-engage in life and recover. In 2018 Kylie applied for and received a scholarship with the Pain Revolution to become a Local Pain Educator for the Murrumbidgee region. As part of this Kylie completed a Professional Certificate of Pain Science through the University of South Australia. With her fellow Local Pain Educators, Kylie continues to work within the Murrumbidgee region with the goal of improving patient’s access to informed clinicians and current pain neuroscience education to assist their recovery.

Soph Shephard

Soph graduated from a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons 1st Class) from Charles Sturt University, and is currently undertaking a Professional Certificate of Pain Science and Education. She very quickly developed a passion for helping people with persisting pain, and like Kylie, received a scholarship from the Rural Doctors Network to undertake the Local Pain Educator program through Pain Revolution. She still works as a private physiotherapist, and often collaborates with specialised pain services including the Nepean Pain Team and the ACT Pain Centre to provide continuity of care within the Riverina. More recently she has started working as a coach for the telehealth-based, pain recovery program "Brain Changer" (targeted at those with persisting pain within the WorkCover and CTP systems). She has come on board with Kylie to facilitate the Murrumbidgee Pain Hub, and hopes to help drive continued advancements in local skills, networks and services to better help those living with pain.
