Shifting the Lens on Behaviour

Can we really change the way we understand behaviour in classrooms?

This workshop supports educators to see behaviour through a nervous system and regulation lens - not as a character flaw or lack of motivation, but as a response to stress, overload, or unmet capacity.

Together we explore:

  • Behaviour as communication, not defiance
  • How energy and nervous system load impact learning
  • Why some students can’t meet expectations… yet
  • Regulation as readiness for learning
  • Practical strategies used in real classrooms
  • Balancing whole-class regulation with individual supports

Grounded in neuroscience and real-world teaching experience, this session offers practical, sustainable strategies that work within existing classroom structures — not ideal-world scenarios.

Because the way we describe behaviour shapes the way we respond to it.

Who should attend:

  • Classroom teachers (primary & secondary)
  • SLSOs and support staff
  • Learning support and wellbeing teams
  • School leaders wanting a shared regulation framework

Suitable for mainstream, support units, and alternative settings.

Workshops are presented by Bec Penfold

(Senior Occupational Therapist and Director - Coastwide Therapy Services) and sell out quickly.
