This fully accredited, two-day Standard Mental Health First Aid course, presented by Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to other adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. Participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
Please note that this is an education course designed to teach people the skills to give first aid to others, it is not a therapy or support group.
The content of this course may explore issues of mental illness that could be challenging, either due to your own lived experience or that of friends and family. It is therefore advised that to participate in this course you are feeling mentally strong.
