For the past decade, guitarist, composer & NZer PETER KOOPMAN has called Sydney home.  Drawing inspiration from Oceania’s rich & diverse music scene, he has developed a unique sensitivity &  style on the guitar, characterised by a slightly gritty sound & a playful melodic & rhythmic sense. 

In 2022, he was the winner of the prestigious Australian National Jazz Awards at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival.  The following year he released his debut album as a leader, "Now Where?", a collection of seven original tunes recorded live at Golden Retriever studios with Tim Firth on drums, Lachlan Hamilton on tenor sax & Jacques Emery on double bass.  Peter can also be heard on albums from Sydney bands Scoredatura & Coast, as well as recording with Kate Wadey, Aaron Blakey & Daryl Aberhart among others.  He has performed with Will Vinson, Ben Vanderwal, Sean Wayland, Vince Jones, Aloe Blacc, Donny Benét to name just a few, as well as touring around Europe, the UK, USA, Asia & NZ.
